Artist Bio: Shanon bradburn Biography.
Born Sydney 1981.
Shanon's earliest memories were of drawing and creating. After the loss of her mother in 1985 the family relocated north to the sleepy seaside town of port Macquarie on the mid north coast of new south Wales.
“I was always outside playing and exploring the beaches and waterways, thus forming and reaffirming my fascination with the natural world. My favourite thing was sitting at the beach watching the sunsets, it became a ritual if sorts, I often thought of that time as a way of connecting with my mother”.
After studying 3 unit art for her HSC 1998. Shanon received a scholarship to study at KVB College of design for the following year. Shanon also studied Portraiture under Portrait Artists Australia founder Nafisa Naomi at the Royal Art Society of NSW 2006
Shanon had her first solo exhibition at Gallery 307 in Northbridge in 2007. After taking a short break to start a family Shanon continued to exhibit regularly in group shows and art prizes throughout Sydney. Deciding to further her education shanon studied her diploma and advanced diploma of fine arts at Meadowbank TAFE 2010-2014.
Shanon has been a finalist in numerous art prizes throughout Australia, receiving a highly commended in the end of year exhibition, Meadowbank TAFE.
Highly recommended in the Northbridge Art Prize 2014 and a commended in the Blacktown art prize 2010.
Having over 9 solo exhibitions under her belt shanon continues to push her practice to new levels once again returning to the shoreline and her beloved sunsets.
Shanon’s works are held in public and private collections across Sydney, Australia and Europe.
Doing major commissions for RNSH. And featuring in publications such as Home Beautiful Magazine Belle magazine and art edit magazine, Art mood 2019 and One’s to watch 2020
“Sydney based artist Shanon bradburn has one simple rule: “ I don’t paint what I haven’t experienced” And oh boy, has Shanon experienced some beautiful skies. Turning her gaze upwards, the artist exclusively paints the sky and the clouds. With a strong focus on the interplay of colour and light, Shanon captures some truly magical moments by allowing rich colours to dominate her canvases and incorporating strong contrast and textures brush strokes, the artist turns ordinary moments into something extraordinary. “ in a world where we are all looking down at our devices , it’s a privilege to look up"
