Where Everything Floats is an imagined landscape where the world seems to soften, slow down and gently drift.
I have used layers of muted greens, soft blues and delicate earthy tones that weave across the canvas, some are a little translucent while others have a textured quality, creating everchanging flowing forms and movement. The contours of the landscape and undulating shapes ripple effortlessly into each other, while intricate botanical markings are scattered like organic details that bring a sense of life and gentle rhythm.
I was inspired by the feeling of drifting above the landscape and to capture a sense of weightlessness, freedom and quiet wonder.
This artwork has the sides painted in a pale green colour, varnished in satin for protection, signed on the front and back and includes a certificate of authenticity
Artist Bio: Debra's early years on a farm in the rural Hawkesbury region of New South Wales instilled a deep connection to the land. Being surrounded by wide open spaces and the rhythms of country life, she developed a long lasting appreciation for natures quiet beauty.
After pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Western Sydney University, Debra continued for decades creating only privately, Until 3 years ago she decided to finally share her artworks.
While primarily working with acrylics, artist markers and watercolours, Debra's progress is grounded in experimentation. She explores line and patterns, organic forms, layered surfaces and contrasting textures to craft a visual language that both feels intuitive and lyrical. Her practice is ever evolving, marked by a sense of curiosity and discovery.
Debra's distinctive style has already captured attention, with her work featured on the television show 'Dream Home' on channel 7. Also this year Debra has made her first appearance at the Affordable Art Fair at Brisbane.
