'In my recent abstract paintings, I work toward luminous, unstable surfaces through a deliberate, rhythmic process: dragging paint across the canvas, layering, obscuring and revealing in continuous motion. Paint is pushed and pulled until it reads as time as much as colour. ' – Josh Fartch
Developed over the past two years, this body of work explores painting as both surface and event. Each work is built through repeated passes of application and removal, where gestures accumulate, collapse and re-emerge. The result is a tension between control and chance – between what is placed and what is uncovered.
Artist Bio: Based at River Studios in Footscray, Melbourne, Fartch holds a Master of Fine Art (Research) from Monash University. He is among the highest-selling artists on Artbid; since the platform launched two years ago, he has sold 28 paintings through its monthly auctions, with multiple works achieving prices above reserve.
