This painting was inspired by a winter journey from Sydney to Canberra, where the quiet beauty of the Australian countryside invited moments of reflection. A solitary tree stands as a silent witness beside the winding road, symbolising resilience, endurance, and the passage of time. Using expressive palette-knife textures and layered brushstrokes, I sought to capture the crisp winter light, expansive sky, and earthy landscape that define this region. The receding road draws the viewer toward the horizon, evoking both physical travel and an inner journey, while celebrating the tranquil beauty and vast openness of the Australian landscape.
