Under Southern Skies is a textured semi abstract seascape inspired by the wild beauty of the coastline and the quiet wonder of chasing the aurora beneath southern night skies. This piece captures a fleeting moment where land, sea, and sky seem to shift and merge together.
Built through intuitive layers of colour and expressive mark making, sweeping brushstrokes and rich textures create a strong sense of movement and atmosphere. Deep ocean blues and vibrant coastal greens are contrasted by soft luminous light across the sky, suggesting the faint appearance of the aurora dancing above the horizon.
The work invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and become immersed in the energy, mystery, and changing light of the natural world.
