Bauhaus Chic imagines a Parisian apartment where the elegance of the city meets the playful geometry of Bauhaus design. Through the tall windows, the Eiffel Tower and neighbouring façades place the room unmistakably in Paris. Inside, bold colour, clean shapes and carefully chosen vintage pieces give it a character all its own.
I wanted the space to feel both composed and lived in: a room where an abstract artwork hangs above a much-loved mid-century sideboard, and a quiet afternoon might easily turn into an evening spent looking out over the city. The painting brings together my love of modernism, architecture and interiors, and the stories we imagine unfolding within them.
Artist Bio: Cath Michael is a Brisbane-based artist whose work draws on nostalgia, mid century design and vintage treasures. After stepping away from a long finance career due to illness, she returned to her creative roots and took up painting full time. Drawing inspiration from sentimental objects and cherished memories, her paintings evoke a sense of warmth and longing for times when life was much simpler.
