This Artwork captures the raw energy of an instant, freezing the model's ephemeral pose in bold strokes and expresive lines, as if the very essence of the 5 minute sketch has burst into vibrant life.
I eventually translated the sketch, into a more deliberate work, decided to paint it on perspex; there is a gap of 10 cm in between perspex and wood, the gap creates a dynamic interplay with light,
allowing the image to shift out into the space, and breathe.
Artist Bio: Elena Berkovich has intentionally ignored the realistic representation of landscapes, and the figure, investigating other abstract aspects of scenes and life cracks. Reduced imaginary, rough surfaces, shadows and many colour leyers, represent her works. the arrangement of these is expresive, the empty spaces, the composition, everything has its share.
