This vibrant still life painting transforms a simple bowl of lemons into a bold study of colour, light, texture, and form. The luminous yellow fruit becomes the central focus, contrasted against a deep midnight blue interior and an electric turquoise rim.
Thick, expressive brushstrokes give each lemon a tactile, almost sculptural quality, allowing the paint itself to become part of the subject. Highlights of white and warm golden tones suggest light falling across the fruit, while the dark background intensifies their brightness and creates a sense of depth.
The turquoise surrounding the bowl introduces an unexpected contemporary energy, moving the work beyond traditional still life. The composition feels playful and immediate, balancing the familiarity of everyday objects with a heightened, almost dreamlike colour palette.
At its heart, the painting is about finding beauty in the ordinary turning something as simple as a bowl of lemons into an exploration of light, abundance, colour and joy.
