This abstract painting layers tangled paths of different weights and textures within a contained composition. Its rich and muted tones are balanced with warm peach and white hues. The surface is painterly and celebrates the human hand in mark making.
Jacqueline’s Inscapes series were made in response to time spent in her inner-city apartment during the global pandemic. During this strange time she used painting as a way to work through a feeling of containment and reflect on the collective inward reflection that many people did during this time of pause from usual routines. This is one of her favourite paintings made in her 20-year practice.
Artist Bio: Jacqueline is interested in painting what it feels like moving through and connecting with particular environments. The abstract paintings build up over time with emotive colour and gooey brushwork being key.
Jacqueline has completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Honours in Creative Industries and Doctorate in Philosophy (Creative Arts). She has worked as an artist and educator for the past decade and has had several solo exhibitions.
She currently lives in Mcleans Ridges, northern NSW with her young family.
