Lollies seems to be the perfect subject for Maximalism. They have big bold shapes and colour. I can manipulate them into the best compositions creating light and shadows. I can paint a work rich in vivid hues, bold patterns, repetition and textures. I also love detail. The detail of confectionary creates the subtle shadows and light areas which will give definition to the shapes. Lollies invoke memories, from childhood to special celebrations to moments shared alone or with loved ones. Everyone has a favourite sweet. What’s yours?
