I am captivated by the striking beauty and quiet strength of the paperbark trees—forms that, to me, allude to the feminine. Their abundance of coloured bark, peeling and falling from trunk and branch, becomes a kind of suspended adornment. In painting them, I see these queens of the bush dressed in their own grandeur, their bark glimmering like jewellery, each layer a testament to resilience and renewal. The works celebrate nature’s innate elegance—her ability to wear time and transformation with grace.
Artist Bio: Her work is characterized by layers of rich colours, textures, and gestural brushstrokes. Rather than pursuing a particular aesthetic within her painting, Cassandra allows her inspiration sources and personal expression to dictate the direction of the work.
