This painting is a bold celebration of the female form through abstraction, colour and movement. The faceless figure stands powerfully at the center of the composition, transformed into a sculptural presence through sweeping curves and the saturated tones. Inspired by modernist expressionism, it rejects realism in favor of emotion and symbolism, allowing the body to exist as both vulnerable and monumental. The vivid contrasts and simplified shapes create a dreamlike tension between softness and strength, intimacy and myth, inviting the viewer to see femininity not as an object, but as energy itself.
Artist Bio: Diaz was the inaugural artist in residence at Mental Gallery (Bowral, NSW) and has had work exhibited at the Aarwun Gallery in Canberra, Penrith Regional Gallery, Tyger Gallery Yass and Hillview Heritage Hotel. She is the 2023 creative arts scholarship winner of the Veolia Mulwaree fund. Her inspirations include Wendy Sharpe, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse.
