This abstract painting bursts with expressive force, layering bold gestures and vibrant colour fields across the canvas. Thick strokes of crimson red, vivid pink, electric turquoise, and deep black create a striking interplay of form and texture. The work carries a visceral energy, dripping lines, impasto textures, and lattice like black structures intertwine with sweeping arcs of colour .
At its core, the composition is anchored by the open expanse of white space, which both contrasts and amplifies the intensity of the surrounding marks. The painting feels raw yet intentional, balancing chaos with rhythm, and emotion with structure. It evokes an atmosphere of urgency and release, as if the canvas itself has become a stage for movement, voice, and emotion.
Artist Bio: Diaz was the inaugural artist in residence at Mental Gallery (Bowral, NSW) and has had work exhibited at the Aarwun Gallery in Canberra, Penrith Regional Gallery, Tyger Gallery Yass and Hillview Heritage Hotel. She is the 2023 creative arts scholarship winner of the Veolia Mulwaree fund. Her inspirations include Wendy Sharpe, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse.
