Inspired by a trip to Italy in March of 2025, this painting is of a canal in Venice. In Venice, I felt as though a new and more beautiful sight would present itself around every corner, and I hope to return some day soon to take more photos, sketch more of the city and find new inspiration for more paintings. For this piece, I painted in colour oils over a phthalo blue, green shade underpainting which shows through the top layer, unifying the colour feel of the painting.
Artist Bio: I have an upcoming exhibition in June 2026 at Artemisia, Windsor: surreal forested landscapes interspersed with dreeamlike elements. Previous shows at Brunswick Street Gallery (BSG), Painted City: landscape paintings of the inner north and Melbourne City, and a series on Wildflowers found in the city. I have participated in group exhibitions across Australia, and l hold a bachelor of Visual Arts & Design, Postgraduate degree in Creative Writing and Bachelor of Arts.
