Artwork is stretched and ready to hang & comes with a certificate of authenticity

This nostalgia-inspired Holden Sandman artwork is rich with layered textures and hidden details, inviting viewers to slow down and explore.
The car and shadow are also raised off the canvas via thick cardboard underneath to gives a 3d effect.
The artwork was created using acrylic paint and layered paper collaged elements. Rich textures are built through multiple layers of paint and paper, with an array of odd, unexpected details throughout, some partially obscured by paint, others left fully visible.
Collage materials are sourced from discarded books, junk mail, packaging, comics, maps, and vintage magazines, reusing and reinvigorating materials that would otherwise be thrown away.
Three coats of gloss varnish protect the surface, giving the work a smooth, glass-like sheen that enhances colour, depth, and contrast.
The artwork is ready to hang, with a wire fitted to the back and fully finished, painted and collaged edges.
Artist Bio: Based near Wollongong on the NSW South Coast artist Darren has been honing his skills in collage, printmaking, mixed media and painting for the past 10+ years.
King's work is heavily influenced by pop art and drenched in nostalgia. Creating artwork that celebrates the local, the joyous, the small-scale, the tasty, the abandoned and the ordinary.
Darren’s focus prior to rediscovering his love of painting/printmaking in his 40’s was primarily spent building his printing, graphic design business and family life.
Trained in Fine Arts, cartooning, illustration, graphic design and screen printing, his work attempts to fuse elements from each of these practices.
After recently rediscovering collage, Darren King now creates a selection of paintings entirely made from recycled paper. Discarded magazines, junk mail, maps, paper bags and old books are all harvested for interesting pieces to create original, vibrant, textural artworks.
In recent years Darren King's work has been exhibited and sold throughout Australia and internationally.
