I feel alive when I paint. Gooey brushstrokes weave and interact in a mix of control and unpredictability. Each motion informs the next. Instinct and logic alternate. This abstract process is an inevitable life metaphor. It is dynamic, fun, challenging, surprising, imperfect, replete with uncertainty yet overall, a beautiful tangle. This work celebrates life and painting; I’ve found both are most interesting when the edges are pushed and approached with colour, depth and bold moves. Paths are made through action. Art reminds us of this.
Artist Bio: Jacqueline is interested in painting what it feels like moving through and connecting with particular environments. The abstract paintings build up over time with emotive colour and gooey brushwork being key.
Jacqueline has completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Honours in Creative Industries and Doctorate in Philosophy (Creative Arts). She has worked as an artist and educator for the past decade and has had several solo exhibitions.
She currently lives in Mcleans Ridges, northern NSW with her young family.
