The Moon
60 × 90 cm | Mixed media on canvas
Framed in solid Walnut.
Bathed in soft, reflective gold, The Moon explores the quieter moments of transformation; those spent in stillness, reflection and gentle self-discovery. Long associated with emotion, intuition and illumination, the moon becomes a symbol of revealing what has always been present beneath the surface.
The solitary figure embodies the strength found in peaceful solitude. Rather than loneliness as absence, it speaks to the restorative space created when we slow down, turn inward and reconnect with ourselves. Alongside the figure, the young foal represents innocence, vulnerability and the inner child, inviting compassion for the parts of ourselves that continue to grow and heal.
Created during the Year of the Horse, the foal also carries the symbolism of freedom, resilience and forward movement. Together, these elements reflect the quiet work of transformation; not through force, but through patience, contemplation and trust.
Built with layers of mixed media and richly textured surfaces, reflective gold paint shifts with the changing light, creating a luminous quality that echoes the moon’s gentle glow. It is a work that encourages stillness, reminding us that our deepest truths are often revealed not in moments of action, but in moments of quiet reflection.
