The ‘Many Moons’ painting series is about connecting with natural rhythms in distracted times. The Moon cycle is a steadfast timekeeper.
I titled this painting ‘Night Walk’ after returning from an evening walk, where the local hills turned blue in the cool light. In the collage-like approach to painting I layered arc shapes, rolling brushstrokes, vertical divides and dusky gradients to capture a sense of time.
I revisited this painting recently, adding an earthy terracotta colour to dominant brushstrokes and a bold ‘New Moon’ shape into the composition. I don’t often revisit paintings, I’m happy I did with this one!
Artist Bio: Jacqueline is interested in painting what it feels like moving through and connecting with particular environments. The abstract paintings build up over time with emotive colour and gooey brushwork being key.
Jacqueline has completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts, Honours in Creative Industries and Doctorate in Philosophy (Creative Arts). She has worked as an artist and educator for the past decade and has had several solo exhibitions.
She currently lives in Mcleans Ridges, northern NSW with her young family.
