Artist Bio: Liz Fitzgerald is a contemporary artist based on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Her artworks are inspired by the landscape, particularly coastal environments, and the beauty of everyday life. With a background in graphic design and arts education, she moved to a full time studio practice in 2020. Liz's artworks are typified by loose gestural brushwork, suggestion and simplicity; she aims to represent her subject as if caught in a fleeting moment in time, capturing its idea or essence.
While waiting primarily in acrylics, Liz moves between these and oils, enjoying the contrast of technique, process and outcome the different mediums present. Likewise her works in landscape are interspersed with forays into abstraction and still life.
She has been a finalist in the Lethbridge 20000, the Mornington Peninsula Contemporary Art Prize, the Cornerstone Gallery 'Inside this box' show and Omnia Art Prize, .
Liz has held several solo and group shows and her work is held in private collections in Australia, New Zealand and the US.
