'Statue' is a watercolour painting that references a classical Greek sculpture. The use of a vivid, hyper-saturated yellow shifts the image into a more contemporary context, creating a contrast between ancient subject matter and modern colour. I am interested in this juxtaposition of classical imagery and contemporary aesthetics, which suggests a dialogue between past and present. The work offers a subtle nod to the idea of timeless beauty—an enduring ideal that continues to resonate across different eras and visual languages.
