Capture the warmth and abundance of a sun-drenched terrace with this vivid original painting. Blending traditional still life elements with a modern, gestural style, this work brings a sophisticated energy to any dining or living space.
The composition showcases a lush, sprawling bouquet of peach dahlias and soft pink David Austin roses, accented by delicate blue delphiniums. The floral arrangement sits in a dark, elegant pedestal vase atop a playful, blue-and-coral striped tablecloth.
In the foreground, the artist has included ripe, sliced pomegranates, their deep ruby seeds providing a rich, jewel-toned contrast to the soft pastels above. The background is rendered in broad, atmospheric grey-green strokes, allowing the vibrant colorus of the fruit and flowers to truly pop.
Medium: Original acrylic painting on canvas.
Style: Contemporary Still Life / Impressionist.
Colour Palette: Peach, rose pink, sky blue, and ruby red, grounded by a classic striped pattern.
Technique: Dynamic, painterly brushwork that emphasises light and shadow.
This painting is more than just a floral study; it is a celebration of texture and colour. The contrast between the structured stripes of the linen and the organic, flowing forms of the petals creates a compelling visual rhythm. It is a perfect acquisition for a collector looking for a piece that feels fresh, inviting, and expertly composed.
Artist Bio: Miriam Wells is a contemporary abstract expressive painter whose work spans lyrical floral still life and true abstract expressionism.
She's fascinated by growth and seasonal change - and how these processes are both fast and slow simultaneously. Her practice is anchored by the simple art of paying attention in small green spaces - and how this opens up new worlds. Through this small lens of vessels, petals and ponds, wonder lives in every brushstroke. With a degree in Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong, and experience as an academic in art history, dramaturgy and creative writing theory, Mim has recently shifted her creative practice from writing to painting, embracing an expressionist's toolkit of bold strokes and emotive abstraction, with a decadent's obsession with beauty, abundance and decay.
