Inspired is part of my Quiet Reflection series.
This piece is part of a little series of 5 paintings. I continued to explore different techniques while painting different landscapes I love. One of the consistent things in each of these paintings was the colour Payne’s Grey, one of my favourite colours. I have always loved it and use it instead of black.
I am continuously inspired by the landscape and to paint ones that really capture light. I am a lover of light! I also love experimenting a part of my creative process. It is not only fun but is also so important to my ongoing practice as an artist.
So in this piece, I wanted strong, watery, colourful brushstrokes to give this landscape movement, texture and depth. I love the colours in this landscape.
Artist Bio: Rachel paints abstract landscapes and the places she most frequently visit in nature is what inspires me to paint. From references of granite outcrops of Girraween National Park
and the coastal beauty of Yuraygir, to the captivating views of the sky and mountains from the verandah of her home.
Each painting is created through a process of layering paint and experimenting with composition, mark-making and the colour palette. I always seek to express an ephemeral sense of balance, depth and luminosity.
