Mindful Lounging, 2024
Acrylic Gouache

Artwork is framed and ready to hang & comes with certificate of authenticity
This painting was inspired by the pressure on productivity for self worth, particularly on women - I wanted to emphasise the importance of rest, and rest as protest. This figure is mindfully and unapologetically lounging within her own safe space. It's meant to be a reminder that taking time to rest and look after yourself equips you to to better show up for yourself, others and ultimately leads to a happier life. This work is ready to hang and framed in tasmanian oak. I create work for the 'female gaze' which aims to re contextualise how female figures are represented in art. Recently all my work has skewed towards depicting femme figures unapologetically lounging. I paint in a signature flattened style with bold bright colours and a focus on line and form over shading, to achieve this I use a type of matte paint that achieves the level of hyper pigmentation I'm looking for.
