A hot summers day at the beach, filled with all the good things. The run to the car across the hot road.
Artist Bio: From her seaside studio, Sophie is currently exploring a flowing, spherical form in her painting practice.
This rounded shape bottles up and compresses the feeling or moment in time that Sophie is trying to convey. Condensed, it can then emanate out to the viewer.
Sophie’s days revolve around water. With her three daughters she surfs or swims every day. This connection with water and the cycles in nature, plus a lifelong love of Japanese design, is evident in the markings in her work.
Sophie is a self-taught artist who has completed many short courses, including a study of Abstraction at The Byron School of Art in 2017. She has always painted privately but accelerated her painting practice to a daily ritual in 2023 and started selling her pieces.
