Madeline Young is based in Orange NSW on Wiradjuri Country and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Newcastle completed in 2009. She has exhibited widely across Australia over the past 10 years in both solo and group exhibitions. Alongside her art practice, Madeline works full-time as a Curator and Gallery Director, which influences and shapes her own work.
Inspired by her young son’s innocent and instinctive mark-making, Madeline’s latest work embarks on a vibrant journey into pure abstraction. Colour takes center stage, subtly shifting with the seasons and reflecting her emotions. Texture and composition are equally essential, weaving layers of various mediums and materials to create rich depth and a sense of history in each piece.
Madeline is currently evolving her style and exploring new mediums, seeking to create a bridge between her traditional approach and the fresh, exciting directions she’s eager to pursue. Her goal is to find a balance that honors her roots while also embracing new creative possibilities.
